On Thursday the 24th, Michael Cocuzza, CEO of Enviro Power LLC, (EP) and a UConn Engineering graduate, will be presenting their patent-pending high efficiency combined heat and power technology. EP systems produce electricity and heat in a single unit and electrical output on these units can range from 1.4KW to 250KW when put in series. EP’s system's can cross an array of markets everywhere from residential/commercial energy efficiency, to back up power plants, or micro-grids ( on demand generation). Compared to traditional power generation the maintenance is minimal and users can see a significant reduction in green house gas emissions. The technology break through lies in the method in which they can create on demand flash steam compared to traditional steam generation in a stored pressure vessel. EP’s steam generation methods can also be used to transform the process steam markets where there can be a significant licensing opportunity.
Enviro Power has tested their technology with a 1.4KW unit and seen a total system efficiency of 97% which they believe can be increased to 99%. The next step is to build their 15KW design and log 10,000 run hours. EP is currently looking for the financial backing to support this effort. The company has gained traction with potential customers, distributors, and suppliers. They need to raise funding and bring on experienced business expertise to help navigate bringing this potentially disruptive technology into the electrical and heating markets.
